The two captains were selected as the first Northeast Conference Athletes of the Week for the 2015 season on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers were just 15 points behind winner Stony Brook with a total of 65 points, while UMass Amherst placed second after accumulating 54 points.

Patterson joins Sacred Heart after most recently serving as the Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach for Manhattanville College, where she led the program to its first ever women s conference championship.

The Pioneers finished sixth at the NEC Championships in 2014.

Sacred Heart will compete in nine meets this upcoming fall season. The Pioneers will run for the first time at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday, September 5.
